Seeing hearts already

I am not one for advance planning, but for some reason, I thought it would be great to start thinking about Valentine's Day.

And of course, found an idea to totally steal. Thanks to Camille at Camille's Primary Ideas(that's her cute little picture up there), I will be using her "Name that Primary Song About Love" activity. And she made a comment about including a valentine's treat. And THAT got me thinking and I found this:

which led me to find a cute little recipe on how to make your own sprinkles - with melting chocolate!

I found all of these on Cute Food for Kids? (with not everything being "kid-worthy" - hence the question mark -, but I'll just stick to the kids' stuff) and it looks pretty yummylicious - with different foods for the different holidays. I can see myself spending hours upon countless hours browsing and drooling

Chistmas SINGO (maybe a little too late)

Well, I never published a post with a link (YAY! I finally know how to do this!!!!!!!) to my singo game because when I converted the word page to a pdf the lines were distorted by the size of the images. It worked fine in Word, but not so much with adobe. I knew it would be a pain to re-size, and I was right. It took quite some time. So that is why I am posting now.
On Christmas night.
But I can always link back to it next year, right? There are two files - One for the Singo Cards (2 pages with 8 different cards in 3 by 3 format) and the key (that gives the song and the icon that goes with it) and then the call cards Christmas SINGO Christmas Singo key and Call Cards

"Introducing" I am a Child of God

This song really needs no introduction - nursery kids know it, but, that doesn't mean we can't make it fun. (Image from Didi @ Relief Society linked to Susan Fitch's design site)
So for both, I am definitely going to use the "In a nutshell" idea from sugardoodle. I can really see them having fun with this one (Image from Sugardoodle)  Then, at least for senior, I am going to use this paragraph I found at Sugardoodle which is actually in the Primary 4 lesson manual. (It is currently the last paragraph at the bottom):
Primary 4 Manual: "In 1957 the Primary General Board . asked Naomi W. Randall and Mildred T. Pettit . to write a [song about the need of children to be taught the gospel]. Naomi Randall reported: 'That evening, I got down on my knees and prayed aloud, pleading that our Heavenly Father would let me know the right words. Around 2:00 A.M. I awakened and began to think again about the song. Words came to my mind. . I immediately got up and began to write the words down as they had come to me. Three verses and a chorus were soon formed. I gratefully surveyed the work, drank of the message of the words, and returned to my bedroom where I knelt before my Father in Heaven to say "Thank you!".  "The words of the chorus originally read, 'Teach me all that I must know / To live with him some day.' (Italics added.) A few years after the song was published, Spencer W. Kimball, then a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, attended a conference. where a Primary children's chorus sang the song. Naomi Randall said: 'On the trip home he talked with a Primary General Board member [and] expressed his love for the song, then stated that there was one word in the chorus that concerned him. He wondered if Sister Randall would consider changing the line that says "Teach me all that I must know" to "Teach me all that I must do." Of course I gladly accepted his suggestion.  " 'I wondered why I didn't include that thought at the time the lyrics were first written. But as time went on I came to feel very sincerely that this was the way the Lord wanted the song to evolve, because it became a teaching moment for members all over the Church and impressed upon their minds that knowing the gospel is not all that is required; it is the day-by-day doing the Lord's will and keeping the commandments that help us reach our eternal goal' " (in Karen Lynn Davidson, Our Latter-day Hymns, pp. 303-4).
Isn't that super cool?!!! I had heard this story before except the last part: "I wondered why I didn't include that thought at the time...."
I am sure we have all had that thought - why didn't I think of that before - that was so simple - why couldn't I have just come up with that in the first place - and most everyone has heard the changing of the know to do - and it is a teaching moment that we all remember. Isn't Heavenly Father awesome and all knowing? I love these times when His eternal providence shows through!

I have never really sang "Can a Little Child Like Me?" before and I just clicked it and it is beautiful so it will definitely be my May song and I don't think we sing "I Know My Father Lives" enough, so it will be April. I don't know if we'll be able to fit the last two in our sacrament program, but they are nice and peppy, so we will see

Major MAJOR update!!! I think I learned how to post documents!!!!!!!!

Oh my golly!!!! I don't know if I did it correctly, but it is worth a try.

I have had to subscribe to Scribd in order to view and print others' work.

So when I went to Camille's Thanksgiving story to see if I could figure out how she did it, I found that since her document was on scribd, I was already signed in (just love that automatic feature, but as a result, I never remember my passwords) and I went ahead and uploaded my Christmas Story. Camille from Camille's Primary ideas called hers a Sing A Story, so that is what I titled mine on Scribd

Christmas Story

Well, today we did our singing in Sacrament: Picture a Christmas, Samuel tells of the Baby Jesus and Christmas bells are ringing (in that order) and they did GREAT!!!!! I was so proud of them. AND our first speaker (a youth speaker) gave her talk on the Savior and she said she wanted to focus on the story of Christ's birth from the perspective of the Book of Mormon and went over the Samuel the Lamanite story and I was SO EXCITED that we had just sang Samuel tells of the Baby Jesus. I thought it went along perfectly.

So hopefully our Christmas Singo went well - I left. Not feeling well and all of that. And I also left all the supplies for the next two weeks. Including.................................. da da da daaaaaaaa -
My own Christmas Story!!!!!!!!! Very, very, very much like Camille's Thanksgiving story from Camille's Primary Ideas

So I wrote the story lines on one page and put those in its own page protector, then the next page protector has the picture of the next part of the story and the song corresponding to the picture on the back.
So here is how the story goes:

An angel came to earth to tell of Jesus being born to

Mary (Mary’s Lullaby, 44-45)

Mary went to Bethlehem during tax time with

Joseph (When Joseph Went to Bethlehem p.38)

Joseph and Mary could not find a room in the city and instead had to sleep in a

Stable (Once within a Lowly Stable, 41)

After Jesus was born, Mary wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a

Manger (Away in a Manger, 42-43)

Angels went to tell of the blessed birth to

Shepherds (The Nativity Song v. 4, 52-53)

 

In the sky, the shepherds saw a special

Star (Stars were Gleaming, 37)

The Star also guided

Wise Men (With Wondering Awe, Hymns 210)

The Wise men found Baby Jesus and were

Joyful (Joy to the World, Hymns 201)

Those of course, are not all of the pictures, but I thought I might include some. Many of them I found on primary clip art. Some of you might be able to pick out the ones that were featured in the Friend so many years ago when I was young (those do happen to be my favorites)

I WANT to make THIS

I have posted posts like this one before - where I find something I would like to do and post it - and never think of it again. I hope this post does not end as the aforementioned posts, because this is awesome!!!!!!! It is a Singing Wheel

Christmas SINGO

I just finished my very own SINGO last night! I have seen several references for SINGO across the web and I tried to see if I could find a template and just plug in my pictures, but alas, no such thing could I find (for free, at least).
However, in my search, I did find that some places do different size grids. I am not sure that ever crossed my mind, but it quickly became apparent that doing a 3 X 3 grid would be much less labor intensive than doing the normal 5 X 5.
With my 3 X 3 grid, I decided to come up with 14 songs, so I would have a large variety of pictures for the cards. I made 8 different cards. Once the pictures were sized to fit the grids, plugging them in was quite a bit easier than I imagined.

Suggestions for anyone who might want some of these images: Angels without wings can be very, very hard to find. PrimaryClipArt is a great place to look. Many of my images - Joseph, the Nativity, baby Jesus, and of course the angel came from there. Also, if you can't find what you need there, adding "lds" to your image search words can also help. That's how I found the Mary portrait: "Mary Mother of Jesus lds" is what I typed 

The internet is a fabulous place!!!!!!!
